Ăsta este unul dintre motivele pentru care mi-am propus ca dacă voi avea vreodată bani pentru o maşină de teren, ea să fie Toyota. N-am văzut niciodată o maşină mai forjată, care să meargă însă impecabil, sute de kilometri pe zi în deşert. (Ar fi totuşi ceasurile de bord, care din cînd în cînd mai încetau să funcţioneze, dar îşi reveneau).

This is one of the reasons why I'm sure that when I'll have the money for a 4x4, it will be a Toyota. I've never seen a car doing such big things in the desert, every day for hundreds of kilometers, and still running like a clock. (Well, the clocks on the dashboard stoped functioning sometimes, but it's no big problem if you punch them).

Am promis că postez în fiecare zi cîte o imagine. Asta este o 'statie de benzina' tunisiana. Nu ştiu cît de oficială, pentru că ghidul ne-a explicat (şi am constatat asta) că pentru multe sate din sud, asta este cam singurul mijloc de venit. Aşa că tot satul face contrabandă, iar autorităţile nu iau măsuri pentru că în acest fel nu sînt obligate să plătească ajutoare sociale. (Vizualizaţi întreaga serie tunisiană aici.

I've promised to post a photo every day. This is one of tunisian 'gas stations'. I don't know how legal it is, because our guide explained (and we have seen) that for people of many small villages of southern Tunisia, selling smuggled gas is almost the only source of living. Almost all the people in this villages are smugglers, and the authorities don't do anything, because the smugglers don't need social assistance (like money from the state).

Casa George Sebastian

Un loc unde orice român trebuie să meargă este Centrul Cultural Internaţional din Hammamet, sub această denumire este cunoscută vila românului George Sebastian. Acesta a ales să locuiască în Tunisia şi casa sa enormă, construita in 1927, elegantă, situată în preajma mării şi în inima unui parc splendid a atras ca un magnet prietenii francezi celebri ai lui Sebastian.

Printre ei numărându-se: Andre Gide, Georges Bernanos, W. Churchill. Frumuseţea zonei şi arhitectura specială, în stil arab, a locuinţei a făcut ca statul tunisian să cumpere casa în 1959 şi să o transforme în muzeu. Din 1964 ansamblului i-a fost adăugat şi un teatru în aer liber, ce oferă spectacole muzicale, piese şi recitări din autori celebri, continuând tradiţia intelectuală a lui George Sebastian. George Sebastian's House

A place where every romanian (and why not every tourist) should go is International Cultural Center of Hammamet, as is known the romanian George Sebastian's vila. He chose to live in Tunisia and his enormous house, built in 1927, very ellegant and placed near the sea and in the middle of a splendid park was like a magnet for the Sebastian's famous friends. Amongst them was Andre Gide, Georges Bernanos, W. Churchill. The beauty of the surroundings and the arabian architecture made the Tunisian state to buy the house in 1959 and transform it into a museum. Since 1964, the complex gained an uotdoor theater, which offers muzicals, plays and recitals of famous authors, to carry on the intellectual tradition of George Sebastian. Periplu Tunisian/Wandering through Tunisia

Vînzător de Muşmum (nu ştiu cum se scrie, dar e un bucheţel tradiţional din bambus, avînd în vîrf o floare, de obicei de portocal, parfumat şi care se oferă în dar) într-o cafenea din Sidi Bou Said (Oraşul Albastru), Tunisia./Mushmoom seller in a coffee shop from Sidi Bou Said (Blue City), Tunisia. (Mushmoom is a traditional posy made of bamboo sticks with  flowers attached. Usualy, the flowers are orange tree flowers. The posy is parfumed and offered as a gift).

Curăţare de păcate/Dust to dust

Asta este una dintre fotografile mele mai vechi, dintr-o mănăstire din Bucovina. Una dintre favoritele mele. Este vorba despre un călugăr care sterge de praf strana, după slujbă.

(This one is one of my older photos, taken while visiting one of Bucovina's monasteries. One of my favourites shots. It's about a monk dusting the lectern, after the religious service).
